Every year on the week before Thanksgiving, the Ninth Judicial Circuit courts in Orange and Osceola County join more than 400 communities celebrating National Adoption Day! This initiative continues the innovative efforts of former Los Angeles County juvenile court judge, Michael Nash, who opened the court on Saturdays, engaging volunteers and staff to finalize adoptions and reduce the backlog of cases at one of the busiest courts in the nation.
Since the creation of National Adoption Day in November of 2000, more than 85,000 children nationwide moved from foster care to a forever family. Judge Alicia Latimore and Judge Christine Arendas will preside over this year’s ceremonies on Friday, November 22, to help increase that number!
You can join us in raising awareness by using the hashtag #NationalAdoptionDay and encouraging others to participate in this special day! More information about National Adoption Day can be found at nationaladoptionday.org/
