The Central Florida Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (CFLABOTA) held their annual Judicial Luncheon on November 16 where our very own Chief Judge Lisa Munyon received the 2021 Jurist of the Year honor. Former Chief Judge Fred Lauten introduced her at the event, and Retired Judge Patricia Doherty, who serves as CFLABOTA’s current president, presented Chief Judge Munyon with her award.
CFLABOTA’s Jurist of the Year award honors those jurists who truly exemplify the ideals of ABOTA—to foster improvement in the ethical and technical standards of practice in the field of advocacy. This advocacy is important to ensure individual litigants receive more effective representation, and that the general public benefits from a more efficient administration of justice. Chief Judge Munyon champions this mission every day. She has been essential to court proceedings throughout the pandemic through her work with the Workgroup on the Continuity of Court Operations and Proceedings During and After COVID-19. And during her tenure as Chair of the Florida Courts Technology Commission, the group made court records available via the internet while successfully protecting confidential information. Through these undertakings and her many others, Chief Judge Munyon proves her dedication to CFLABOTA’s mission.
We are proud to see Chief Judge Munyon receive this recognition and know it is well-deserved. Congratulations!
